Frequently Asked Questions

You know when you go to a museum, and it’s really quiet and stuffy and everyone whispers???  Not like that.  We designed our Maui art studio to be a bright and relaxed space that inspires creative and social energy.  Everyone paints together, but we encourage you to add your personal style.  A break or two during the session allows the paint to dry and a chance for you to stretch your legs and check out the other masterpieces-in-progress.  If you feel the urge to sing or dance to the tunes that we play while you paint – go for it.  Any creativity is welcome here!

Absolutely, YES!  Our Partista’s step-by-step instructions ensure that anyone – regardless of experience or talent – will not only finish their masterpiece, but will go home with a painting from our art class that, at the very least, resembles the featured example.  Most likely, though, you will be surprised at how good you really are!  We can’t promise that you’ll create fine art, but we’re certain you’ll create FUN art at our Kihei art studio!

Each painting session is approximately 2 to 3 hours (including breaks), depending on the complexity of the painting and the flow of the art class.

Because we have limited seating, we encourage you to make an advance reservation. We will always attempt to have a class if reservations are made, but we reserve the right to cancel a class if we see that a minimum of 6 people have not signed up prior to any art class.  Walk-in painters are always welcome as long as seats are available and the class has not been cancelled.

It’s easy…Simply click on the REGISTER NOW button at the top of this page and follow the prompts. If you prefer, you can also book by phone at 808-419-6020. Either way, your credit card will be charged when booking & that will hold the reservation for your next art class with us!

Prices vary from $39 – $59 per session. Kama’aina rates are available only with a valid Hawaii ID or Military ID. Click on the painting you’d like to do on the calendar and the registration page will appear. The full price will be shown and any discounts will be reflected at the art studio when payment is made.

Everything that you need to create the featured painting: a 16”x 20” canvas, easel, acrylic paints, brushes and aprons. Your station will already be set up when you arrive, and we take care of cleaning up when class is finished. Fresh, self-serve popcorn is available for your munching pleasure throughout the art class, free of charge. Beverages are available for purchase at the bar in our art studio.

To ensure that the session starts on time, we recommend that you check-in at least 15 minutes before the scheduled class time to allow you to get settled in at your station and grab a drink. Our doors open 30 minutes before class, though, if you’d like a bit more time to explore the art studio and shop a little in our boutique. If you do not show up by the start time of the class, Island Art Party reserves the right to cancel your reservation and sell the seat to another customer. Please call if you are running a few minutes late or are having trouble finding our art studio. 🙂

If you are holding a reservation that you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you do so at least 24 hours in advance of your reserved art class, either by phone (808-419-6020) or by email ([email protected]). Please let us know as early as possible as this will allow another painter to fill your spot. The full fee for the art class will be charged for reservations not cancelled or rescheduled with 24 hours’ notice.

Your fun-loving self…a friend, maybe 2, maybe 20. That’s all you need. We provide all the art materials, painting instructions, set-up and clean-up. You will also need a valid ID for proof of age and a mask. Learn more about how COVID-19 has changed things in South Maui.

We recommend something comfortable and paint-friendly for your art class with us! Aprons are provided by the art studio, but we can’t guarantee that you or your belongings will stay paint-free.

Sorry, bringing in your own alcoholic beverages is not allowed at the Island Art Party art studio. If you need assistance with finding a Maui caterer for your next private event with us, please give us a call.

Sorry, but the bar in our art studio is solely for the enjoyment of our painters!
